Craig Chavez






In 2000, Craig began Mixed Martial arts in Southern California with Ted William's Combat Grappling system. In 2005 he enlisted in the United States Army where he began training in the Army Combative's program. While conducting combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Craig was severely wounded and lost his vision. While recovering and adapting to his visual impairment he begin training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and a modern Hapkido system in which he holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt.
From 2008 to 2011 Craig trained and competed in BJJ and Judo under Gary Padilla and Judoka's from around the world, including Team USA.
Upon moving to Spicewood, Craig has continued his training under the tutelage of Elliott O'Hara and received his purple belt in BJJ on March 5h, 2022.
Craig is proud to assist in LTJJC's BJJ program and lead our Self defense program and to help spread his love of Martial Arts to the local community.
