Craig Chavez
In 2000, Craig began Mixed Martial Arts in Southern California with Ted William’s Combat Grappling. In 2005 he enlisted in the United States Army where he began training in the Army Combative's program. While conducting combat operations during OIF, Craig was severely wounded and lost his vision. While recovering and adapting to his visual impairment, Craig continued his journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo while studying Hapkido under HKD, TKD & BJJ Blackbelt Master Rick Bean.
From 2008 to 2011 Craig trained and competed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Gary Padilla and trained and competed in Judo under Judoka’s from Southern California, around the world and Team USA Judo.
Craig emphasizes many techniques that consist of bilateral coordinated movements (BCM), in which promotes a wholistic healing process for individuals with TBI and PTSD. He uses these processes for the kids program to promote intelligent thinking, responding, emotional regulation and so much more.
Craig is proud to Coach at LTJJC and lead our Self-defense and Homeschool programs.
